Day1  Paro Arrival and City History Tour

Welcome to the Thunder Dragon. Your tour guide will meet you in the airport of Paro. After checking in your hotel, you will visit the National Museum, where houses lots of exquisite local artworks, Paro Dzong (Rinpung Dzong), where offers you beautiful river view and Kyichu Temple, a small temple with beautiful views.

Day2  Thimphu In-Depth City Sightseeing

You will visit 3 Thimphu city highlights today:

Institute for Zorig Chusum – See local students learning traditional handcrafting skills in this art school.

The Folk Heritage Museum (Phelchey Toenkhyim) – This museum houses the relics and documents related to the educational history and ancient Bhutanese people’ daily life. A restored three-storey traditional rammed mud and timber house is the highlights in the museum.

National Memorial Chorten – It was built in 1974, in memory of the third king of Bhutan, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck (1928–1972).

Day3  Transfer to Gangtey via Dochu La Pass

Today, you will drive from Thimphu to Gangtey, where you will start the hike next day. When you pass by the Dochula Pass, do not forget to admire the 108 chortens and Himalaya Mountain ranges. The transfer takes around 6 hours.

Day4  First Hiking Day – Tabiting Village to Zasa

Tabiting is a small village of Gangtey, as well as the start point of your hike. The altitude will go up to 3400 meters from 3000 meters, and then go back to 3100 meters during the hike. Today’s final destination is the Zasa Pasture, where you will stay overnight in a camp beside a stream. The sound of the flowing stream will help you have a good sleep. It takes around 7 hours to finish today’s 15-kilometer hike.

Day5  Second Hiking Day – Zasa to Chorten Karpo

Departing from the painting-like Zasa Pasture, you will head to the Chorten Karpo, where there are four chortens surrounded by high pines. You will have a commanding view of Khothokha, a small village consists of around 60 families during today’ hike. The altitude will ascend to 3500 meters during the hike and descend to 3100 meters when you reach Chorten Karpo, where you will camp tonight. The hiking distance today is almost the same as yesterday.

Day6  Third Hiking Day – Chorten Karpo to Tikke Zampa

Compared to last two days, you will have a leisure hike today. The altitude will go down to 1500 meters when you reach Tikke Zampa, the final destination for this hike. You will pass by the best place for birdwatching in Bhutan during today’s hike. After ending today’s hike, you will be transferred to Thimphu to stay overnight in a hotel room, which you must miss badly during the hike.

Day7  Taktsang Monastery Sightseeing Hike

Good morning, you will drive to Paro for a sightseeing to the Taktsang Monastery today. You still need to hike around 2.5 hours to reach the monastery, the most famous religious relic in Bhutan. It is possible to take a rest at the view terrace, which is located on the half point of the hiking route.
