Day1  Paro Arrival and Transfer to Thimphu

Fly to Pro International Airport and spend 1 hour transferring to Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan with your tour guide. Visit Kuensel Phodrang, National Memorial Chorten, Takin Preserve, Tashichhoe Dzong and a local craft bazaar after checking in your hotel.

Day2  Transfer to Punakha for Sightseeing

Today, you will explore Punakha, the former capital of Bhutan. You will stop at the Dochu La Pass for a grand view of the Himalaya Range on your way to Punakha.

Punakha was the capital of Bhutan until 1955. Lots of ancient sites are located in Punakha. You will learn about its history, arts and religions in Chimi Lhakhang and Punakha Dzong.

Day3  Transfer from Punakha to Bumthang

Most today’s sightseeing will be done during the 7-hour-long car ride to Bumthang. The mountain views are excellent. It is ok to ask your driver to stop for some photo opportunities, especially when you pass the Chendebji Chorten, built to drive away bad things. The chorten and its surrounding sceneries are very good scene for your camera.

Day4  Celebrate Drup Festival in Jambay Lhakhang

Like most festivals in Bhutan, the Drup Festival is also celebrated to drive bad things away and make good wishes. In 2024, the Jambay Lhakhang Drup Festival will be held from Oct. 17 to 21 in 2024. Around 8:00 pm, local people will go to the Jambay Lhakhang to dance together. Those dances are very interesting. Sometimes, the dancers show their happiness by dancing naked.

During daytime, you will visit the Tamshing Lhakhang, Kurjey Lhakhang and Jakar Dzong.

Day5  Continue Bumthang Drup Festival Celebration

Today, you can continue celebrating the Drup Festival in Jambay Lhakhang, or feel the atmosphere of the festival in other places of Bumthang, such as the Ugyen Choling Palace, where houses lots of belongings of ancient nobles in Bumthang. Besides the palace, Mebar Tsho Lake and Tang Rimochen Lhakhang respectively offer you the fascinating scenery and religious culture.

Day6  Meet Black-Necked Crane in Gangtey

Today, you will drive to Gangtey and take a stroll in the Phobjikha Valley, where you may meet the lovely black-necked cranes. During the stroll, you can also pay a visit to the Gangtey Monastery.

Day7  Transfer from Gangtey Valley to Paro

Today you will go back to Paro, where you entered Bhutan 6 days ago without taking any sightseeing activities. On your way to Paro, you can visit the Simtokha, the first dzong in Bhutan’s history. After you arrive in Paro, you will go to the Paro Dzong (Rinpung Dzong), where offers you beautiful river view.

Day8  Hike to Taktsang (Tiger Nest) Monastery

The Taktsang Monastery is a must-visit attraction for most tourists. Around 2.5 hours’ hiking are needed to reach Taktsang Monastery, the most famous religious relic in Bhutan. It is possible to take a rest at the view terrace, which is located on the half point of the hiking route.
